Just before New Year's I took a spin up past Brigham City to take pictures of this abandoned mill off I-15. It has become tradition over the years to use it as a makeshift billboard welcoming home local returned LDS missionaries.
It was a little tricky getting the shots; it's not what I would call an "accessible" area, between the barbed wire and the frozen marshes...and the freeway, of course. But I think the subject matter made it worth it. Plus it gave me an excuse to get a burger at Maddox on the way home.

Tiny Lights
Made a few runs to Temple Square over the holidays...trying to take advantage of the great photo opportunities. After a while, I would inevitably start goofing around, trying to find a new way to interpret a heavily-covered subject.
Here are a few of the shots I came up with:
On another night I drove up to the Bountiful Temple to see what I could find up there. Just like in Salt Lake, fatigue and frigid temperatures started to impact the results:

It's Just a Fight
My buddy Dr. Thunder is into the MMA scene. Every Saturday he drives down to Sandy to spar and grapple with some like-minded kindred spirits. A couple of weeks back he invited me to swing down with him and take some pictures of he and the boys kicking the crap out of each other. How do you say no to that?
There was a big whiteboard on one of the gym walls with a lot of random info on it. At the top of the board, someone had written: "Remember, it's just a fight."

Lagoon Lights
This Wednesday the Cheetahman is going to be taking some photos at my band's debut concert, so last Saturday night we headed out to get some low-light photography practice. We wound up at Lagoon over by the ferris wheel, where I got these:

Adventures on Spider Island
Last weekend a night hike up Mount Timpanogos became a morning hike on Antelope Island because of rain, then became more of a morning hike on Spider Island, for reasons that should be obvious from the images below:

She & Him
Last night I caught the final act of the 2010 Twilight Concert Series down in Pioneer Park. She & Him is the creative team of M. Ward and Zooey Deschanel. Because of class, I wasn't able to get down to the park until almost 8:30, which meant all my shots had to be taken sniper-style from the midst of the 20,000 person crowd. Still, I think I managed to take advantage of some of the obstructing shadows.
